Biography Dr. Trina Harlow received her bachelor’s degree in clothing and textiles from Kansas State University, attended the Paris Fashion Institute, studied painting and art history in graduate level courses in Italy, and obtained her master’s degree in art education from Boston University, and her PhD in curriculum and instruction with an art education emphasis from Kansas State University. She has been a teacher for over 25 years and has taught all levels of art K-12. She also taught school short-term in Uganda, Ecuador, and Switzerland. While most of her art education career has been in Texas, she has coordinated the art education program as an instructor at Kansas State University for the last six years. In the fall of 2020, she assumes an assistant professor of art education position with the University of Central Arkansas. She has served in various positions with the Texas Art Ed Association and the Kansas Art Ed Association. She served on the National Art Education Association Research Commission’s Professional Learning through Research Working Group for four years and serves as the Public Policy and Arts Administration Group’s President. She has also been given the Emerging Scholar Award by the Arts in Society Research Network. She is now an associate editor of the peer-reviewed Art Research International Journal. She has presented at many conferences and conventions all over the world and is a sought-after speaker. On March 11, 2020 she founded the Online Art Teachers (K-12) Facebook Group and working with a team of leaders has also developed onlineartteachers.com. She is committed to art education and the value that art brings to the lives of children, adolescents, and adults.
